Privacy Policy
The short version: Peak Phones does not track you, runs no third-party analytics, and stores only the two interface preferences you choose yourself plus an anonymous count of how often each article is read.

Who is responsible for your data
Peak Phones is published by Erika Vicenová, a sole trader registered in Slovakia (IČO 55950493, 922 01 Ostrov, Slovakia), who is the controller of any personal data described on this page. Write to hello@peakphones.com with any question or request about your data. The site is far below the thresholds that require a data protection officer, and it performs no profiling and no automated decision-making anywhere.
What we store on your device
Your language choice lives in a single cookie called pp-locale, and your light/dark theme choice in your browser's localStorage under pp-theme. The cookie travels with your page requests so our server can send you to the right language version; neither value identifies you personally.
Analytics
We run no third-party analytics, no behavioural telemetry and no tracking pixels, and we set no advertising or marketing cookies. What we do keep is a plain read counter: when an article opens, your browser sends us that article's slug and its language, and we add one to a total. Nothing about you travels or is stored with it: no cookie, no identifier, no session, no IP address. Your IP reaches our host to deliver the request, exactly as it does for any page, but it is never written next to a count. The result is anonymous totals that cannot be traced back to a person or linked to one another.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served as static pages from Vercel's global CDN. Like any hosting provider, Vercel briefly processes IP addresses in standard access logs to deliver pages and protect against abuse; we never use them to identify or profile visitors. Vercel's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Embedded videos
Most video reviews are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and load only when you press play. One short, muted unboxing clip on some article pages plays automatically. To do that, YouTube's privacy-enhanced player and its script load as soon as the article opens, so from that point YouTube and Google receive your request and may process data under their own privacy policy. We never set advertising or tracking cookies of our own, and the auto-playing clip is always muted.
Partner links and ads
Links to shops are affiliate links and are always marked as sponsored. If you click through and buy, the shop may set its own cookies on its own domain and we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Ad placements on Peak Phones are static images served from our own domain; no ad network or tracking script is ever loaded.
Legal basis for each purpose
Under the GDPR: the language cookie is strictly necessary to serve the page in the language you picked, and the theme preference never leaves your browser at all. Server logs, security and the anonymous read counter rest on our legitimate interest in delivering the site, keeping it working and knowing which articles get read (Article 6(1)(f)). Nothing on the site asks for consent today, because nothing here needs it; if that ever changes, you will be asked first and can withdraw at any time, without affecting anything processed beforehand.
How long anything is kept
We hold no personal data of our own, so there is nothing on our side with an expiry date: the read counters are anonymous totals. The language cookie stays in your browser until it expires or you delete it, and the theme preference until you clear your browser storage. Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs for a limited period under its own retention policy, which we neither control nor mine.
Who else is involved
Three kinds of provider process traffic on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and CDN), Upstash (the database holding the anonymous read counters), and, only if you press play on a video or follow a shop link, YouTube/Google and that shop's affiliate network, each under its own privacy policy. We sell data to nobody and hand nothing to advertisers.
Data leaving the EU
Vercel and Upstash are US-based providers; where data reaches the United States, their terms rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Pressing play on a YouTube video, or following a shop link, sends your request to that company directly, under its own transfer terms rather than ours.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form. In practice we hold nothing that identifies you, so most requests are answered by telling you exactly that, but ask anyway at hello@peakphones.com and you will have an answer within one month.
Complaints
If you believe we have handled your data wrongly, please write to us first. You always keep the right to complain to a supervisory authority: either the one in the EU country where you live, or ours, the Slovak Office for Personal Data Protection (dataprotection.gov.sk).
